Holiday Rental House DescriptionWe are situated in one of the most scenic regions of the south-west of France in the Parc Naturel Regional Du Haut-Languedoc, in the foothills of the Montagne Noire. There are walking and mountain biking trails criss-crossing every corner of the park. The area has many beautiful sparkling lakes. The beautiful towns of Catres & Mazamet are 20 mins away. Carcassonne airport is 1hour south. Toulouse airport 1 hour west. We are just an hour and half from the beaches of the mediterranean.The house is over 200 years old and built from granite stone from this area. The original features have been maintained and the house has electric heating in all rooms, and also a woodburning stove in the livingroom. The accommodation is very comfortable and designed to be your "home from home" while you are staying with us. The Sage house has a double bedroom, a twin bedroom with double and single bed, and a mezanine bedroom with double bed, and sleeps 4-7. The house have a fitted kitchen, with electric hob, fan oven, fridge and microwave.They are furnished with everything you could need for your stay with us. And if there is anything else you need, we're on hand to help. We have laundry facilities available in the complex. Outside there is a lovely garden terrace, where you can sit and relax in the sunshine and the herbs. There are garden tables and chairs, and sun loungers for your use. We have a barbecue out in the terrace area for your use. The area is very tranquil and relaxing and the views are lovely. SPECIAL FEATURES The famouse GR36 walking path which stretches from Normandy in the north of France to Spain in the south passes right past our door. You don't have to go far to find a great walking or mountain biking trail. They are everywhere and are very well marked and signposted. The area is a fantastic walking/trekking and mountain biking area. LOCAL ACTIVITIES DESC Walking and mountain biking are very popular in this area. The trails are very well sign posted and looked after. With beautiful sparkling lakes close by, swimming and water sports are available in the summer season, they even have beach and restaurant facilities. Hunting and fishing are available here and are strictly to season guidlines. Wild boar and deer freely inhabit the forests and birds of prey are very commun. Castre and Mazamet, only 20 minutes away, both offer great shopping and markets selling the local produce and specialities from this region. Foie gras, confit duck, cassoulet, roquefort cheese. The local wines are splendid and very reasonable. Castres houses the famous Goya museum. Albi is only 45 minutes drive and this again is a beautiful city to explore with paved streets and a magnificent cathedral. Albi also houses the Lautrec museum. This is the 'Cathar' region so there are many amazing castles and fortresses to visit. Carcassonne is only 1 hour drive. |
