Holiday Rental Cottage DescriptionThe house is very well equipped and furnished. It is situated on a river island in the beautiful River Charente in spectacular surroundings within easy reach of the riverside bar and restaurant and the pretty villages of Mosnac and St Simeux and is ideally located for fishing, swimming, boating and riverside walks.The surrounding area is rural with Cognac vineyards and fields of maize. The historic towns and Romanesque architecture of the sunny Cognac region complete the picture for an ideal holiday. Boating, fishing, walking, birdwatching or just relax by the river all on the door step. Broad and slowmoving, the river Charente makes an ideal playground for those who love "messing about on the river". Kayaks can be hired from the riverside bar. The fishing here is first class with carp of over 30lbs and large shoals of roach and bream, there are plenty of fishing spots to be found on the island and along the river bank. A fishing licence can be bought in the local fishing tackle shop. The clarity of the water makes swimming a pleasure, whilst the towpaths allows pleasant walks in either direction. Much wildlife, including hoopoes, heron, golden orioles and kingfishers, can be seen. The nearby village of St Simeux is within walking distance, there is a riverside bar which also sells fresh bread daily. The bar restaurant has live music varying from blues, rock, jazz or piano a couple of times a week. |
