This beautiful house has just been renovated to a high standard to include 3 double bedrooms, a fantastic kitchen including all white goods, a huge lounge with open fireplace and central heating and air conditioning.Brazilian hard wood floors, modern design and high quality furnishings off set perfectly the solidity of this building built originally over 200 years ago in granite. It sits high in the jumble of streets that make up the area of Miragaia, now designated an Unesco World Heritage Site, protected from new development and ensuring that this local community that originates from the 16th Century maintains its uniqueness and diversity. It is a great place to holiday - take a walk to Ribeira, the heart of Porto or take a cruise up the River Douro and explore the interior of beautiful Northern Portugal or walk or take the little ferry across to Gaia and visit the world famous Port Wine houses of Ferreira, Symington and Sandemans amongst others - along the coast you will find expansive white sand beaches perfect for surfing and the golf course at Espinho where you can pay and play per day.
Porto has one of the most splendid cathedrals in Portugal and the world famous modern art museum of Serralves is a short taxi ride away. Palacio Cristal is a maze of gardens replete with wandering peacocks and small boating lakes just a walk up the hill from the house as is the main train station that will take you south to Lisbon in under 3 hours or north to the Spanish border in an hour.
The brand new Metro system goes from here all over the city including to Matosinhos where the beaches are fabulous! All this for 1 Euro! Grilled fish straight from the sea that morning or locally grown fruit and vegetables are available in the nearby Bolhao market and there is a great bread shop open from 6am just around the corner. Banks,a pharmacy,the hospital,convenience stores and parking are all just there!
Outdoor activities include horse riding, surfing,walking,hand gliding and golf all within easy reach. Those who wish to maintain an exercise programme whilst away can do so at the local Virgin Active Gymnasium for a fee of €30 per week and there is a huge swimming complex just a short tram ride away open all year round where families are made very welcome at both the indoor and outdoor pools. This city awaits you! |
