Holiday Rental Apartment Description

This self-contained holiday apartment is in a perfect location in the heart of the Forest of Dean, which is renowned for picturesque walks and tracks to suit all levels of cycling. There’s never far to go to visit places of interest and there are lots of activities on offer, from going ape in the forest canopy to canoeing on the beautiful river Wye.

Forest View occupies the first floor of a double fronted, stone, end of terrace house that used to be one of many ale houses dotted throughout the Forest.

Off road parking, to comfortably accommodate a large motor caravan, is at the entrance to the garden from where the apartment is accessed.

The living space comprises lounge with open pebble effect gas fire, modern fitted kitchen/diner, bathroom/WC with electric shower over the bath. The hot water, central heating and cooking are all from gas. There are three bedrooms, two doubles and one twin. The double front bedroom has a double wardrobe and dressing table unit and the double rear bedroom has a chest of drawers and hanging rail. The rear twin has a built in wardrobe and overlooks the enclosed garden which has two sun loungers, a table with parasol and four chairs. The garden is a pleasant place in which to relax, or to eat outside, on warm summer evenings.

Within a twenty minute walk from the apartment, along the disused railway route through the woods, is the Dean Heritage Centre at Soudley, which houses a museum, cafe serving great food and home made cakes, gift shop and fascinating Forest craft demonstrations and workshops. Opposite are a series of peaceful lakes to walk around . A small detour will reveal woodland carpeted with bluebells if you are lucky enough to be here in May. In the other direction is Linear Park. Walk or cycle along the old railway embankment and feed ducks at the ponds and lakes along the way. Detours can be taken along tracks that lead off through the forest. A short car ride will take you to The Speech House, Beechenhurst Visitor Centre, Cannop Ponds, Pedal-a-bike-away cycle hire centre, Go Ape!, numerous Forest villages (watch out for commoned sheep on the road as you drive around) and interesting towns such as Newnham on Severn whose short High Street at one time boasted 17 public houses and from where a pleasant walk can be taken along the magnificent River Severn. Animal lovers mustn’t miss HAPPA, the Horse and Pony Protection Association in the pretty village of Brockwier. For historical interest visit Tintern Abbey then on to the old dock area and castle at Chepstow. So much to see, so little time – you will need to come back again and again!

The cost per week is based on four people sharing. Up to two additional people will be charged £50 each per week. The apartment is available from 2pm on Saturday afternoons and must be vacated by 10am on Saturday mornings. Please note that bed linen, towels and tea towels are not provided.
